-- The wood is so extremely soft that I guarantee it will get scratched.
-- It does scratch easily, which it why I gave it 4 stars. We have 1 large scratch on the crib from assembly that luckily isn't too obvious. I'm sure more scratches will develop over time.

-- It had some scratches already when we bought it, and then got some more after assembly- once when my cat jumped up on it, and another when my husband tried to rub the cat scratch, and scratched it some more with his fingernail.
