Ovulation calendars

An ovulation calendar is a tool that helps you to work out which days you are most fertile, in order to get pregnant in the fastest time possible. The calculation is based on the premise you ovulate around 14 days before the start of your period, so getting the approximate dates that you’re most likely to conceive, will help you time your intercourse for faster conception.

Using an ovulation calendar is pretty simple. Start by entering the date when you last menstruated and how many days are in your menstrual cycle. The calendar will then give you a rough date of when you should be fertile, based on the figures you entered.

Do ovulation calendars work? To some extent they do, but looking at two variables (the date of your last period, and your average cycle length) is pretty simplistic. And we all know that life isn’t simple!

Okay, what can you do to boost your likelihood of conceiving. One strategy to use is checking your cervix on a daily basis. You see, at the start of your cycle, and during the luteal phase, it’s positioned quite low in the vagina. It only rises during ovulation.

You can also check the mucus the cervix produces. Most days of the month, its pretty dry, thick and white. However, during your most fertile time of the month, it changes to a clear, viscous fluid, that stretches several centimeters between your fingers and thumb.

One more step you can take in identifying when you’re most likely to get pregnant is taking your BBT daily. If you can use a good quality thermometer that can show you your temperature in 2 decimal places, you’ll get an accurate idea of when typically ovulate during your cycle.

Putting all of these into consideration will increase your chances of getting pregnant naturally. you’ll get much better results than from using a conception calculator by itself. Sticking at it for a few cycles will pay off in dividends, because the longer you do it, the more accustomed you will get to your own cycle of ovulation and menstruation.

What if you have erratic periods, or have PCOS, or don’t menstruate at all? These techniques will only come into their own, once you’ve sorted out the underlying problem behind your irregular cycle.

The important thing to do if your cycle is not regular is to get your body back into balance, by taking a herbal supplement such as FertilPlus, which can regulate your menstrual cycle and stimulate ovulation. If you have access to a herbalist specializing in reproductive herbology, he or she can help you select which herbs will work best for putting your cycle into balance. One your menstrual cycle has become regular, these tools will work for you, and getting pregnant will be easier with the use of an ovulation calendar.
